8 former sailors visiting Pembroke Dock and its surrounding area to mark the transfer some 50 years ago of a former British Destroyer to the then West German Navy. Civic Dinner Saturday 24th May 2008
The Civic Dinner was held on Friday 23rd May and was attended by some of the staff of R S Hayes who had contact with the West German Navy whilst the vessel was being refitted. The German Naval Attaché, Goran Swistek, and the Honorary German Consul, Mrs Helga Rother-Simmonds, will also be attending together with the Honorary Maltese Consul, Sir Brooke Boothby and the Lord Lieutenant for Dyfed, Hon. Robin and Mrs. Lewis.
Informal lunch at Pater Hall Saturday 24th May 2008 in the company of The German Naval Attaché, Goran Swistek, and Pembroke Dock Town Clerk Ian Jones.
Sunday 25th May 2008 Visit to Angle Lifeboat Station and morning coffee with Mr and Mrs John Allen-Mirehouse whose great grandmother was Lady Catherine Allen and who lived at Eggesford House in Devon. Also visit to
Chapel Bay Fort.
