More Hands To The
Pumps
Pembroke Dock’s Young Firefighters (YFFs) have joined
the battle against those that continue to fly-tip within the town. In
just over any hour the team had managed to retrieve over half a tonne of
rubbish and litter from in and around King William Street.
Apart from the obvious visual impact and environmental damage,
fly-tipping raises significant safety fears, with rubbish fires being a
real problem in Pembrokeshire. The event saw the YFFs being proactive in
preventing fires, and the clean up provided an opportunity for them to
practice some of the skills passed on by their instructors with the
retrieval of large objects from down an embankment.
The clean up was organised as part of the Pride in Our Communities
Project, operated by Keep Wales Tidy, Pembrokeshire County Council and
Environment Agency Wales, and part-funded by the European Union's
Objective-1 Programme.
