Latest.........At a packed Pater Community Hall last night 3rd
August 2006 our mayor Councillor Sue Perkins chaired a lively debate
on the County Councils decision to force though car parking charges
in Pembroke Dock. Sue was supported by a host of elected members
including our MP Nick Anger, AM Christine Gwyther, County Councillors
Kate Becton and Tony Wilcox also giving there support were members
of Pembroke Dock Town Council, Phil Gwyther, David Jones, Don
Esmond, Ron Watts, Veronica Roach, Pam George, Paul Weatherall and
Kevin Higgs.
The meeting was surprised to learn
that the issue of Parking Charges for Pembroke Dock had not been
taken by either the Town Council or the full County Council BUT by
the Cabinet group at Pembrokeshire County Council, many of the
participants felt that "democracy within Pembrokeshire County
Council was non-existent".
Councillor Sue Perkins asked
especially the business community to put there feelings in writing
to Pembrokeshire County Council.
The meeting closed with a unanimous vote of agreement with our
elected members present to fight with gusto the action of
Pembrokeshire County Council to force through Parking Charges here
in Pembroke Dock
The
Project team have learned that the area's Pembrokeshire County Council are
proposing to introduce parking charges
within Pembroke Dock are to include Lower Meyrick Street
and we understand the car park near to the Library.
Residents and traders may wish to write to the County Council if
they object to charges being introduced.
There is a time limit for objections which is 21 days from when
the notice is issued by the County Council.
