, it was to be a small insight into the ups and downs of Pembrokeshire County Council as highlighted in the latest Performance Bulletin on Local Authority Performance 2006/7 published by the Welsh Assembly Government on 8th October 2007. But before we can make comment on the efficiency or non-efficiency of our County Council we had to tell this one.

How to get the report.......In seven easy steps !!!!!!

The report was found after clicking through 7 pages all of a similar content, with the ongoing links getting harder and harder to find on each page. How?  well by changing the way they named it and at times burying the link within the body of un-explanatory the text

Homeless households, (part of entry)

In 2006-07, the use of Bed and Breakfast (B&B) accommodation fell with 3,400 homeless households placed in B&B accommodation, almost a quarter (750) of whom were families with children. In 2005-06, 3,750 households and 890 homeless families were placed in B&B accommodation. In 2006-07, the number of homeless families with children in B&B accommodation ranged from zero in Denbighshire and Blaenau Gwent to 118 in
Pembrokeshire.

A Disabled Facilities Grant is a local authority grant to help towards the cost of adapting your home to enable you to continue to live there. In 2006-07, it took an average of 545 days to deliver a Disabled Facilities  Grant compared to 593 days in 2005- 06. In 2006-07, this ranged from 318 days in Gwynedd to 1,112 days in Pembrokeshire.

Each of the other areas saw improved performance with Trading Standards increasing from 95% in 2005-06 to 97% in 2006-07; Animal Health from 84% to 93%; and Health & Safety from 89% to 92%. For Health & Safety, this ranged from 43% in Swansea to 100% in Anglesey, Wrexham, Powys, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire,  Carmarthenshire, Neath Port Talbot, The Vale of Glamorgan, Merthyr Tydfil, Caerphilly, Blaenau Gwent, Torfaen, Monmouthshire and Newport.

One of our key functions is to collect, process, interpret and disseminate statistical data on local government services and activities.

The Welsh Assembly Government introduced a revised performance measurement framework for local government in Wales in 2005-06. 2006-07 is the second operational year of that framework. In this "
bulletin," (By Clicking this link you go to Click Six) we have highlighted some of the most important aspects of local authority performance for 2006-07. We then set out in more detail performance across a range of service areas.
