NEW LOOK PIER HOUSE WELCOMES FIRST BUSINESSES

Milford Haven Port Authority has recently welcomed its first tenants to the new-look Pier House following an extensive refurbishment programme that has rekindled the success and spirit of the building’s many past lives.

Recent winner of the Pembrokeshire Start-Up Business of the year, Lucy Jones has relocated her Chartered Accountancy practice to Pier House, as well as other local companies, within interests in computer services, electrical contracting and global sustainability.

From its beginnings as a Hotel during the early 1800’s to its more recent role at the heart of public sector business, Pier House has played a significant part in the rich tapestry of Pembrokeshire commerce.

The Port Authority purchased the property from Pembrokeshire County Council some five years ago and with the support of European Funding through the Objective One programme, initiated a full-scale refurbishment. The sympathetic works have resulted in the creation of a modern business environment, loyal to original architectural features.

Jeff Teague, Port Authority Development and Property Manager is delighted with the results of the refurbishment, saying “Pier House is a valuable addition to our existing property portfolio and an extension to the commercial business centre that we have created at the Royal Dockyard in Pembroke Dock.”

The first businesses to take up residency are indicative of the growing interest in the property; small to medium sized enterprises that are expanding in the light of a buoyant local economy.  The strength of Pier House is its ability to provide affordable yet modern accommodation, reflective of young and vibrant companies that are defining a new era in Pembrokeshire’s commercial environment.

Says Lucy Jones “It’s become increasingly important that we are located in surroundings that reflect the ethos of the business – we want to be able to welcome clients into a modern, professional environment.  With conference facilities on site, the opportunity for business growth and the flexible rental terms, Pier House is ideal.”
