Llanion, Pembroke Dock
As the largest consumer co-operative in the world, our
ethical approach to work has seen us become a
true community retailer . That’s why we’re supporting
‘Communities First’ – a flagship programme of the
Welsh Assembly Government, with funding until at least March
2012, designed to tackle poverty and
social disadvantage. And now, like us, you can help bring real
value and success to the world around you.

leading the Communities First team,
you’ll help inspire people to transform their local community.

business sectors, identifying imaginative and sustainable
solutions to community issues, while securing
the funding needed to see them through. In fact, you’ll prepare,
implement and monitor local action
plans, bringing together a range of strategies from a variety of
sources. With extensive knowledge of
the Communities First programme or community-led initiatives,
you’ll have bags of experience
developing and managing projects. Moreover , you’ll be competent
and creative when seeking funding
and have the ability to maintain outstanding relationships with
a range of organisations and individuals.
Communities First Participation Officer
Temporary Contract until March 2012 • c. £18,140

that ensures the local Communities First
Partnership runs smoothly and effectively. From keeping meeting
records and developing projects
alongside local groups through to updating spreadsheets,
producing publicity, handling enquiries from
the public, developing volunteers, and arranging training and
development activities, it’s busy work –
and hugely satisfying. You’ll even have the opportunity to
arrange and promote some high-profile
events. PC literate, you’ll have experience of Microsoft Office.
It’s important that you have an eye for
detail, are accurate, can follow instructions while also working
flexibly across a range of tasks in a

that you’re a natural communicator –
friendly and professional, whoever you’re dealing with.
