Rolf Harris as he paints

A programme following Rolf Harris as he paints in the style of 20th century artist Graham Sutherland will be screened on Wednesday March 9th.

The programme is the last in the BBC Cymru Wales TV series Rolf on Welsh Art and is on BBC 1 Wales at 7.30pm.

Graham Sutherland was inspired by the landscape of Pembrokeshire and a collection of his work is permanently displayed at Oriel y Parc Gallery and Visitor Centre in St Davids.

Rolf Harris visited Oriel y Parc, which is run by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority in partnership with Amgueddfa Cymru–National Museum Wales, last year to study Sutherland’s style. He also visited the National Park landscape which had been such an inspiration to the artist.

Four paintings by the Australian artist and entertainer, created for the BBC series in the style of four Welsh artists – Sir Kyffin Williams, Josef Herman, Shani Rhys James and Graham Sutherland – are on display at Oriel y Parc until August.

The gallery and visitor centre is free to enter and is currently open daily from 10am to 4.30pm (9.30am to 5pm from Easter to October).
