Call up for Sunderland trustees
An engineer and a chartered architect
and surveyor are the
latest recruits to the trustee ranks of Pembroke Dock
Sunderland Trust.
Andrew Brown, Engineering Director of Milford Haven Port
Authority, and Gareth Scourfield,
Chairman of Pembroke
Design, join the team which is piloting exciting
heritage plans centred on Pembroke Dock’s remarkable
connections with all three armed services.
Welcoming the new Trustees on board, Trust Chairman
William McNamara said: “We are delighted that Andrew and
Gareth have agreed to join us. They bring expertise in
specialist areas that is of great help to us as our
plans move ahead.
“Andrew’s engineering expertise is especially valuable
as we tackle more of the recovery of the Haven
Sunderland, T9044. And Gareth’s professional skills
in architecture and surveying,
coupled with his long involvement with Pembroke Dock
heritage sites, are equally important to us.
“Over the past year we have recruited several
Trustees who are working
closely with Trust staff and volunteers to progress our
plans which have caught the imagination of so many
people and prompted so much interest and support of so
many individuals and organisations.”
The Sunderland Trust’s very popular Flying Boat Centre - located in
the former Royal Dockyard near South Pembs Hospital -
welcomed 10,000 visitors last year and since the New
Year visitor numbers have continued to be very
encouraging.
Funding for the Centre is from the Rural Development Plan for Wales
2007-2013, which is funded by the Welsh Assembly
Government, and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural
Development (EAFRD). This is administered locally by
Pembrokeshire County Council.
