April Workshops
delivered by PAVS.
In these increasingly difficult
economic times, effective management and good governance
are central to the success and survival of voluntary
groups. Strengthening the committee is an essential
element to achieve this. As part of its training
programme, Pembrokeshire Association of Volunteer
Services (PAVS) is running workshops in April aimed at
helping local voluntary and community groups address
some of the issues affecting them.
A good chair is vital for the
leadership of any organisation, a ‘How to be an
Effective Chair’ training course is being run in 11th
April, which is aimed at individuals who are new to the
to the role of the Chair, or existing Chairs who wish to
refresh their knowledge. The session will cover the role
of the chair; the skills and knowledge required and top
tips for running a successful meeting.
Health and safety are key
responsibilities of any committee, the ‘How to do Risk
Assessments - premises’ workshop being run on 17th
April will help in this area. This session will be
useful for those who are new at carrying out risk
assessments in community buildings, offices, charity
shops etc. By the end of the session participants will
understand the purpose of, and be able to undertake a
risk assessment for their organisation.
Both courses are being run at PAVS
offices in Haverfordwest ,and for more information and a
full programme of courses and workshops, go to the PAVS
website or contact a member of the Development team at
PAVS on 01437 769422 or
development@pavs.org.uk to reserve a place on either
of these training sessions.
The sessions are supported by the
Enterprising Communities and Collaborative Communities
projects, which are part funded by the Welsh Government
and European Structural Funds (European Regional
Development Fund).
