Have your say on Improvements to Pembroke Dock
At a time when the public mood regarding “consultation”
can easily become cynical on issues such as the NHS
changes, a real chance is occurring for the people of
Pembroke Dock to genuinely have a say on what happens in
the streets of their town.
Pembrokeshire County Council is putting a bid together
to the Welsh Assembly Government, for funding to make
all kinds of improvements in the town to benefit
cyclists, walkers and users of Public Transport. The
“Community Travel Plan” could undoubtedly be a great
boost to Pembroke Dock – but for it to be successful, it
is vital that the bid is supported by as many views of
residents as possible. This is truly a chance for the
townspeople to have a say on what happens to their town
and as well as community groups being consulted, every
household will get a questionnaire to fill in and
return.
Residents are being urged to add their voice to the bid
going to the Welsh Government for a Safe Routes in
Communities grant. Other towns in Pembrokeshire have
already benefitted from such a grant in previous years
and now it could be the turn of “The Dock”. You will be
asked about your walking, cycling and travel habits.
Even if you aren’t a regular cyclist or walker please
give your views as the more responses the council gets,
the better the chance of the plan getting the vital
funding needed. Bike racks in the town centre and
schools, improved footpaths, more cycle lanes marked,
possible lowering of speed limits around schools and
big improvements combining the station with a bus depot
are just a few ideas already put forward. There must be
many more ideas you can suggest. Please put your
thinking caps on!
The town council is already on board and preparing ideas
and is very keen that many residents will add their
voice. The better the public response, the bigger the
final grant could be.
Questionnaires are being delivered to every household in
Pembroke Dock in early March. If you don't receive a
copy or would like additional copies for your household,
please contact the Contact Centre, tel (01437) 764551,

Once complete, the questionnaire should be returned in
the FREEPOST envelope provided by Friday 30th March
2012. It won’t cost you a penny – just some minutes of
your time – so lets ensure that Pembroke Dock provides
the biggest response ever!
