New Volunteers
Fly In
Pembroke Dock Sunderland Trust’s latest Volunteer
Recruitment Day coincided with the arrival of a new
member of the Trust’s team which is guiding unique
heritage initiatives within the community.
The recruitment event, centred on the Glass House Coffee
Shop at the Fleet Surgeon’s House, had instant success
with the recruitment of a new volunteer who has already
joined the volunteer ‘crew’.
Eleanor Evans has taken over the role of Volunteer
Training and Development Officer, a post funded by the
Welsh Council for Voluntary Action. She works alongside
the Trust’s existing team of 70 dedicated volunteers and
already has exciting plans to develop and broaden the
many opportunities for volunteers in the project.
Eleanor, from Fishguard, previously worked for a
charitable organisation in Pembrokeshire and prior to
that for the local authority for many years. Eleanor
sees great potential for the Sunderland Trust
initiatives.
“The enthusiasm and commitment from the volunteers is
wonderful, I’ve had a really warm welcome and I’m
looking forward to developing ideas with the
volunteers.”
Eleanor succeeds Kylene Rafferty who is now
concentrating in a part time position supporting
participants.
The latest volunteer following the recruitment day is
Adrienne O’Donnell from Hundleton, who is studying
Childhood Studies at Trinity St David University,
Carmarthen. Adrienne has already joined the team at the
coffee shop.
The Fleet Surgeon’s House, one of the Royal Dockyard’s
most prominent buildings, is being developed as a new
visitor attraction by the Trust, in addition to the
hugely popular Flying Boat Centre located close to South
Pembrokeshire hospital. New interpretation panels and
displays are being incorporated on the ground floor
which adjoins the Coffee Shop.
Potential volunteers are always welcome to call in at
the Fleet Surgeon’s House to meet the Trust’s team and
hear more about the many roles available. Further
details are available on the website
www.sunderlandtrust.org.uk and
by contacting Eleanor Evans on 01646 684220.
