Milford Haven Port drums up support for Samba Band

Samba Doc, a popular community Samba band, is to expand its repertoire thanks to financial support from Milford Haven Port Authority.
The group successfully applied to the Port's Community Investment Fund in which organisations can receive up to £3,500. The money will be used to purchase additional instruments and run a master class workshop.
David Norcross, Chairman of Samba Doc, said "We were delighted to have been successful in the bid for funding for instruments. This allows us to continue to play and join in the various community events around Pembrokeshire throughout the year. The process for applying was easy and there was very helpful advice. I would heartily recommend that similar bodies apply".
Samba Doc was formed in 2008 to provide people in Pembrokeshire with opportunities to learn, participate in and perform percussion based music. It has since gone from strength to strength and now has approximately thirty members aged between 11 and 65 who rehearse in Pembroke Dock.
Community and voluntary groups, charities, organisations and social enterprises can apply to Milford Haven Port Authority's Community Investment Fund for financial support. Applicants must demonstrate how they have a connection to the Port and contribute to sustainability. The closing date for the final round of allocations this year is 29th October. To apply, visit
