RAF pilot flies high in art competition
First prizewinning entry by Emily Monsen of Cosheston VC School.
Striking images on a 1940s theme were on display when
cash prizes were presented by Pembroke Dock’s Mayor,
Councillor Andrew McNaughton, to the winners of a
schools art competition.
Pupils from three junior schools received prize money
donated by Pembroke Dock Town Council in a competition
organised by the Sunderland Trust as part of the Forties
Events staged in September. The presentations were made
in the Council Chamber at the Pater Hall.
Addressing the children, parents and friends, the Mayor
said that judging the competition had been a very
enjoyable task for himself and the Chairman of the
County Council, Councillor David Pugh. Both had been
very impressed by the excellent standard of the entries
and by the individual work and research that had gone
into them.
Cosheston VC pupil Emily Monsen’s entry featuring an RAF
pilot was judged the first prize with two entries from
Neyland Community School pupils - Emily Fagan and Joseph
Campodonic - coming second and third.
The judges were so impressed by the entries submitted by
Monkton Priory CP School that they awarded a special
class prize to the school.
