Voluntary and community groups are invited
to ask questions and catch
up on new developments when PAVS
(Pembrokeshire Association of
Voluntary Services) goes on tour around
the county this month.
This will also be a chance to find out more
about the different types of support that PAVS offers to groups
around the county.
In the current economic climate, groups are
working harder than ever to sustain their activities. PAVS
offers them the support and information to feel confident that
they are on the right track.
The venue in the north of the county for the
one-to-one ‘outreach’ sessions with PAVS officers is Theatre
Gwaun on April 26th. In the south of the county they
take place in East Williamston Village Hall on April 23rd,
Foundry House in Pembroke on April 24th, PAVS on
April 25th and the Friends Meeting House in Milford
Haven on April 27th.
Anyone is welcome to drop in to view the
displays and pick up leaflets but booking is essential for the
one-to-one support sessions – see PAVS contact details at the
end of this article.
Appointments of up to an hour are available,
depending on the type of information or advice needed. The
venues will be open between 10am and 5pm but there will be
flexibility if any group needs a later appointment.
Groups can gather information or ask advice
on issues relating to running their organisation; legal
responsibilities of trustees; writing successful funding
applications and organising community fundraising to name a few.
Advice is also available on starting from
scratch - choosing the right constitution, for example. or a
more established group may be interested in running a social
enterprise to raise revenue to develop other activities.
Anything that helps a group run as
efficiently as possible will also ensure they have the best
chance of not only surviving but thriving.
PAVS is running the outreach sessions through
the Collaborative Communities and Enterprising Communities
Project both of which are part-funded by the EU’s Convergence
European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Assembly
Government.
