INNOVATIVE NEW VESSEL FOR PORT'S POLLUTION RESPONSE

Milford Haven Port Authority has welcomed delivery of a new dual purpose pollution and patrol response craft to service the busy Port.
The 'Dynevor' has joined the Authority's existing fleet of specialist vessels following a series of successful sea trials. Designed by Naval Architects Camarc Ltd and built in Northumberland by Alnmaritec, the vessel is being introduced as a patrol craft following familiarisation training for the crews.
Dynevor is just under 15 metres in length and able to carry up to 12 persons. She is capable of speeds of up to 29 knots, and will be a valuable asset in the deployment of pollution response equipment in the event of any such incidents at the port.
Assistant Harbourmaster Tom Lester is responsible for pollution planning within the port, and describes Dynevor as a vessel "that maintains all the important features of a pollution response craft, but with an increased level of comfort for longer periods of duty"
"At an investment of half a million pounds, given the increasing levels of commercial traffic, Dynevor is part of the Authority's ongoing commitment to the environment, the operational safety of the port as well as meeting the needs of our customers" he said.

Chris Millman of Alnmaritec, the vessels builder commented "We specialise in working on bespoke designs and this project had a number of unusual features that related specifically to its role in the port. That gave us some interesting challenges."
"This included for example, a joy stick control system for the jet units that provide exceptional manoeuverability in close quarters and this is the first boat on which we have fitted such a system. We have been delighted to have had the opportunity to work on this important project and I hope that the Dynevor will serve the Port Authority well for years to come."
A traditional maritime service to officially name the vessel will be held later this year.
