Vintage Cars visit Sunderland Centre
Vintage motors from the Twenties, Thirties and later graced the former Royal Dockyard when members of the Pembrokeshire Vintage Car Club dropped in on the Pembroke Dock Flying Boat Centre.
Club members, from as far afield as Swansea, were making their first visit to the Centre, which opened last summer. They were fascinated to see many parts of a Sunderland flying boat which sank in the Haven Waterway 70 years ago. These include a Bristol Pegasus radial engine which has been conserved and parts restored to a very high standard by dedicated volunteers.
The Vintage Car Club group brought the number of visitors to the centre during the winter period to over 500. The centre, which is unique to the UK, is proving very popular and group visits can be arranged by contacting 01646 623425 or www.pdst.co.uk
The impressive line up of cars included, left to right: 1952 MGYB owned by Club President Neville Pugh; 1928 Austin 12 Ascot, owned by Arthur Thomas, and 1932 Austin 7, displayed by Terry Poole. With the cars are: Neville Pugh, Malcolm and Joan White, Arthur Thomas, Terry Poole and Flying Boat Centre volunteers John Mitchell and Mike Hurley.
