St Patrick's Community Hall
The hall is
available for hire for regular events, parties or training
purposes. The current hourly rate is £6 per hour. Current regular
users include St Patrick’s Girl Guides, Dansation Dance Classes and
Youth Club every Friday between 7 and 9 pm for the over 10’s.
The
hall is managed by a voluntary committee who obtained a 20 year
lease on the building four years ago from
the Church of Wales. The Committee have worked tirelessly over that
period to begin the process of modernising the hall to make it fit
for the 21st Century. Alongside this the Committee also
organise music nights, hold an Annual Fete and organise monthly
bingo sessions, which are held every third Tuesday of the month.
In late 2007
Connaught the gas installation company installed a completely new
heating system including two new boilers as a community donation,
which will ensure that user groups and hirers have a lovely warm
welcome.
In August 2008 the
committee were successful in obtaining just under £30,000 in grant
money from the Welsh Assembly Government to upgrade the back room
into a second meeting room. A damp course is also being added to
the hall for the first time to ensure the building is dry. Work is
being undertaken by True-Build from Pembroke Dock who are currently
doing a sterling job for the community.
The Committee aim to
hold an Open Day in the Spring of 2009 to show the community and all
the hall’s many supporters what a difference has been made to
Pennar’s Community Hall.
